Pentti Ilmari Sammallahti, född 18 februari 1950 i Helsingfors, är en finländsk fotograf. Pentti Sammalahti var sonson till fotografen Hildur Larsson Sammallahti 

Pentti Sammallahti (Finnish, born 1950) Pentti Sammallahti (born 1950 in Helsinki) is a Finnish photographer. He is the only brother of Finnish linguist Pekka Sammallahti. He taught at the Art and Design University in Helsinki for 17 years. In 1991 he was given a twenty-year grant by the Finnish government.

Pentti Sammallahti was born in 1950 in Helsinki, Finland. He began taking photographs at 11 and by 1971 he began to exhibit extensively in Finland and throughout the world. Sammallahti describes himself as a nomad who enjoys the nature of the great north, the darkness, the cold, and the sea.

Growing up, he was surrounded by the works of his grandmother, Hildur Larsson (1882-1952), a Swedish-born photographer, who worked for the Helsinki newspaper Kaiku in the early 1900s. Pentti Sammallahti, som föddes 1950 i Helsingfors i Finland, har sedan 1971 ställt ut på en mängd platser runt om i Finland och världen. Det är inte första gången jag tar del av en utställning med hans bilder i Stockholm. 2012 såg jag hans separatutställning Don´t call it Dreams på Gun Gallery på Östermalm.

Pentti Ilmari Sammallahti (s.18. helmikuuta 1950 Helsinki) on suomalainen valokuvaaja.. Sammallahti aloitti valokuvausharrastuksen 1960-luvulla ja kuvasi muun muassa ihmisiä ja heidän muovaamaa elinympäristöä. Hän valmistui ylioppilaaksi vuonna 1970 ja kirjoittautui Helsingin yliopiston opiskelemaan taidehistoriaa, musiikkitiedettä ja matematiikkaa, muttei suorittanut opintoja.
